Description
Joal, birthplace of former President Léopold Sédar Senghor, is located 120 km from Dakar and delimits the region of the “small coast” and Sine Saloum. The village connects by a wooden footbridge of 500m the island of Fadiouth. This island has the particularity of being entirely made up of seashells! Visit of the village with its main street nicknamed “the Champs Elysée”. Another curiosity, the millet granaries on stilts or the shell cemetery, places of eternal rest for Catholics and Muslims, and the famous “crab with a claw”. In bright sunshine, the whiteness of the shells makes this place even more dazzling!!
